Dear Hiring Manager,
The sun has yet to crest. A coffee grinder screeches out into the still of the home. Startled, the baby coos as Sleep tugs her back into his warm grip. The man creeps across the floorboards, joints stiff from the restless night. A graceless misstep triggers a java riptide - two sloshes dance up and out of his mug plunging down onto the freshly mopped planks below. Never mind. The man sits at his desk, awakens the machine, and refreshes a page: https://complexly.com/jobs
It is a privilege to introduce myself and apply for the Creative Director position.
I have long held a desire to create media that educates and inspires - a desire which has been strengthened by having recently become a father. Raised by educators, I have an inherent appreciation for the content that Complexly produces. What’s most exciting about joining your team is the opportunity to inspire youth, to share a wonder of this crazy world, and challenge the audience and myself to look at things a little bit differently.
For the past twelve years I have been fortunate to work in all aspects of filmmaking and video production. Early on, my passion for documentaries consumed my creative endeavors. With the magic recipe of persistence and luck I was able to share some authentic stories with large audiences. More recently, I have enjoyed my time in the commercial sector working as a Senior Editor supervising projects from creative development to publication. It has been thoroughly satisfying to give voice to a variety of organizations and causes through my writing, directing, and editing.
I have always viewed filmmaking, production, content creation - whatever you want to call it - as a team sport. I am most inspired when leading a crew of talented digital artisans and seeing the fruits of each contributor coalesce into its final state.
This is the opportunity that I have been searching for and I am confident that my diverse experience would benefit Complexly. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I look forward to discussing this opportunity with you.
